The relationship it uses

A dilution does not change how much solute is present, only how much solvent it is distributed through. The amount of solute before and after is therefore the same, and since amount is concentration multiplied by volume:

C₁ × V₁ = C₂ × V₂

C₁ and V₁ are the concentration and volume of the stock solution taken; C₂ and V₂ are the concentration and total volume after dilution. Knowing any three gives the fourth. Note that V₂ is the final total volume, not the volume of diluent added — the diluent volume is V₂ − V₁.

What this calculator deliberately does not do

It has no compound presets, and it does not convert to units on a syringe. This is general laboratory arithmetic, not preparation guidance.

One thing worth knowing about the arithmetic

If you are working from a vial's label weight, the figure you want is the net peptide content from that lot's certificate rather than the fill weight. The lyophilized solid also contains residual water and counter-ions from purification, so the label weight overstates how much peptide is present — often by more than a rounding error.
