CJC-1295 No DAC / Ipamorelin: structure and analysis
What it is
A two-compound blend supplied in a single vial: CJC-1295 without DAC at 5 mg, and Ipamorelin at 5 mg. The dose notation 5/5mg states the mass of each component in that order.
The two components come from different chemical lineages. CJC-1295 without DAC is a 29-residue analog of the growth hormone-releasing hormone fragment, carrying four substitutions. Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide containing the non-natural residue 2-aminoisobutyric acid, and shares no sequence with GHRH.
So the vial contains a long peptide and a short one, which is the fact that governs how it has to be analysed.
How it is produced
Supplied as a blend: the named components are combined and co-lyophilized into a single vial, with the mass of each component stated. The components are produced separately and characterised before combination.
This changes the analytical question. For a single compound, purity asks what share of the detected material was the target. For a blend there are several targets, and what matters is whether each named component is present at its stated mass — per-component identification and quantitation rather than one purity percentage.
Confirming identity
Both components must be identified independently. Mass spectrometry confirms the 29-residue analog with its four substitutions, and separately confirms the pentapeptide including its non-natural residue.
A blend certificate that reports a single identity result has confirmed one component and left the other unaddressed.
Analytical considerations
The analytical question for a blend is not purity in the single-compound sense. It is whether each named component is present at its stated mass, which requires per-component identification and quantitation rather than one percentage.
The large size difference between a 29-residue peptide and a pentapeptide is helpful here: they are well separated chromatographically, so resolving them from each other is straightforward. Resolving each from its own deletion products is the harder part.
Storage conditions for the vial are set by whichever component is least stable, not by an average of the two.
What its certificate reports
A certificate for a lot of this material names the lot, names the issuing laboratory, and states for each parameter both the method used and the specification the result was measured against. Identity and purity are the two core results; net peptide content states how much of the fill weight is actually peptide.
A certificate belongs to a lot, not to a product line. When a new lot is released it is tested again, and the certificate published against it is that lot's certificate — a previous lot's result is never carried forward.
